Victor Bedeau and Creating For The Cure

Creating for the Cure
is the brainchild of Toronto-based visual artist, Ricardo McRae. Ricardo chose to spearhead this event primarily because of the feelings of helplessness he experienced when one of his close friends, Victor Bedeau, was diagnosed with cancer in 2002. In order to demonstrate his ongoing support for Victor and others who struggle with this disease, Ricardo decided to utilize his passion for art as the basis for an annual fundraising community event.
Initially, the vision for the event was limited to an art auction, which would feature pieces donated by local artists. However, upon further consideration, an evening of performances was added, so as to appeal to a broader spectrum of the community. The themes of the evening were COURAGE and STRENGTH, in honour of Victor’s positive outlook as he continued his fight against cancer. During the course of the evening, poets, singers, dancers and musicians participating in the show performed pieces of work inspired by these themes.

The second and third events were held at The Trane Studio, 964 Baturst St. in Toronto.
